Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee
APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR FAIRFIELD ACCOMMODATONS TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP
The purpose and objectives of the Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee shall be:
A) To solicit from individuals and organizations requests or proposals to promote tourism in the County through advertising, promotion and providing those facilities and services which enhance the marketability of the County to attract and provide for tourists.
B) To make recommendations to the County Council on the expenditure of revenues generated from the accommodations tax as provided under Section 6-4-25 of SC Code of Law.
DESCRIPTION:
A) The committee shall consist of seven members appointed by County Council.
B) The members shall serve for terms of three years, or until their successors are appointed and qualify. Four appointees shall be appointed for terms of three years and three appointees shall be appointed for terms of two years.
C) Vacancies shall be filled in the manner of the original appointment for the unexpired term.
D) The advisory committee consists of seven members with a majority of members from the hospitality industry in the county.
a. Two members must be from the lodging industry in the county.
b. One member of the committee shall represent the cultural organizations of the county.
c. Two members can be at large members not from the hospitality industry.
E) No member shall be appointed to serve more than two full consecutive terms on the committee. Partial terms of service on the committee shall not be considered for purposes of the limitations contained in this section.
F) No member shall be reappointed to the committee after serving two consecutive terms until a minimum of one year has elapsed since the last service of the member on the committee.
Individuals interested in serving on the Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee must complete the Fairfield County Application for Service on Boards and Commissions. All members must be in attendance at three-fourths (3/4) of all regular meetings to continue their membership.
